the streetest party

3 May

Q. What do you do when:

a) you live in the most middle-class place in the world?

b) your street is a dead end?

c) there is a park at the end of it?

d) you want to meet your neighbours?

e) there is an extra bank holiday just because some prince is getting married?

A. You organise a street party.

In this case, I think ‘organise’ is a strong word. All we did was suggest and time and place and say ‘bring your own food, drink, tables and chairs.’ But it worked a treat!

I have never seen so many union jacks in my life. I think neighbouring streets were envious of our bunting

our patriotic cakes

and our accordion player…

Loads of people turned up, honest.

Actually, they did. Hurray!

Wills, Kate – this truly is when good neighbours become good friends.

Well I’m envious of the bunting! I had hoped to have a Union Jack flying out front for the day, but we didn’t get to it in time. We had to make do with indoor decorations. Looks like a wonderful time with the neighbors. Thanks for sharing your pics with us!

Looks as if you are ideally situated for a get together, Mel. Love the cake!
